From: Kathy Thatcher Columbus, Ohio To: Decorative Finishes Studio Date: October 28, 2000 I had been doing basic faux for several years on a part time, a "learn as I go" basis. I found The Art and Business of Faux Finishing class while surfing the net and signed up. It was one of the smartest investments I have made in my business life. Martin is an excellent teacher, serious about the world of decorative finishing, a master entrepreneur, always encouraging each student as he instructs, never making one feel less than capable. The class bonds well together despite being strangers in the beginning and having only a week together - much of that is due to Martin's ability to instantly establish a non-competitive and fun environment in which to learn. You will work your fanny off that week in a very hands on atmosphere. You will finish the week exhausted and exhilarated, anxious to get home and show the world your new found skills and impressive new portfolio of 20-25 boards, each a new technique. After you have completed the class, you will discover that Martin supports his students in every way. He is always available to answer questions, help solve problems, etc. The private student message board as well as the public board that he created has become an invaluable reference source for those of us in the business....a way to network and share ideas as well as a support system in those frustrating times! Would I do it all over again? You bet. In fact, I'm attending his update class in December. I consider Martin a mentor and a friend who provided an opportunity of a lifetime. Happy fauxing!
