Krista Vind, of Northwest Florida’s “Emerald Coast”, is owner/principal artisan of Ufauxrea®, Professional Faux Finishes. Very much an entrepreneur, Krista has successfully operated several art-based businesses since 1984.
After apprenticing at FeDon’ studio in Arizona, Krista started and ran an award winning photography and negative retouching business for 10 years.
Later she started and managed a successful arts & craft business that specialized in wood work and custom painting/finishes for interior and exterior home decoration. Certain festive home accents (including a Santa series) became quite popular and are considered collectables.
In 1995 Krista began her faux finishing career in earnest, decorating surfaces and furnishings part-time for a rapidly growing number of friends and acquaintances until a broader client base drove her to full-time work in 1999.
Since her first class with Martin Alan Hirsch, she has continued to train regularly with industry masters including Martin Alan Hirsch, Pierre Finkelstein, Ray Sandor, Nicola Vigini and others.
From her studio at home, Krista has developed, documented, and produced hundreds of unique faux finishes employing many different tools, techniques, and materials. She places significant emphasis on experimentation which, while time consuming, pays considerable dividends in terms of understanding and mastering a growing variety of products and enabling her to offer a very large assortment of both commercial and residential faux finish artistry.
Krista travels regularly within the U.S. to attend faux finishing classes and stay abreast of developments this rapidly evolving and increasingly complex industry.
She has created custom finishes and murals for US Senators and for the United States Marine Corps. She is a member of SALI, Society of Decorative Painters, and the Washington Design Center.
She is currently pursuing a patent on her latest home decorative invention.
Krista enjoys time with her family (when she can get it), brewing beer, coaching youth wrestling, and kayaking.
