Trained as a teacher with a BA from Southern Methodist University and always a creative person, Katy Raine-Cadenas did not have a background in art when she first attended the Faux Finish School in 2001. But after attending the week long Art and Business of Faux Finishing taught by Martin Alan Hirsch she knew that decorative painting was the perfect career choice. For the last seven years she has successfully ran a painting and faux finishing business first in Columbus, Ohio and now in Fort Myers, Florida. Specializing in multi-layered plaster finishes, Katy is known for her quality work and ability to custom design finishes for her demanding clientele. Katy is a big believer in continuing her education and staying current with the latest in product development and design trends in order to meet the needs of her clients and has learned from many talented artisans. She is excited to bring her experience in the field together with her teaching experience... as a staff instructor at The Faux Finish School. Katy is a licensed painting contractor, a member of SALI.org and a moderator on MuralsPlus.com, the most active decorative painting message forum on the Internet. Katy works together with her husband Helton. When she is not working she enjoys shelling on the beach on Sanibel Island and reading.
As a staff instructor, Katy brings her talents and creativity into the classroom creating an upbeat and exciting atmosphere. We are proud to have her on board!
