Italy Faux Finish tour

2008 Italy Tour
September 26th - October 7th 2008


Day 9

Florence This morning we will take our motorcoach for a short drive to Florence. Once there, we will meet our Florence guide and explore this Renaissance town. We will visit The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore - The magnificent cathedral church (Duomo) of Florence, Italy. This basilica most noted for its dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi,

and visits the Santa Croce Basilica, the main Franciscan church in Florence... and the Piazza Signoria..

A private guided tour of the Accademia will let us view the most incredible sculpture in Italy..... Michelangelo’s David.

There are many notable renaissance works on display such as the amazing collection of 15th and 16th century Florentine paintings by Sandro Botticelli, Paolo Uccello, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Andrea del Sarto. There are also several Florentine Gothic paintings....

Besides the designer shops, Florence has many in "open-air markets".

The Market of San Lorenzo, located in the center of the city, has many great deals on everything from jewelry to leather goods..

The New Market, full of many souvenirs, is under the sixteenth-century Loggia del Porcellino.

At the Flea Market, near Piazza Santa Croce, there are many small antiqueswhich can be bought quite reasonably..

That evening, we will go back to Montecatini for the night and we will enjoy a special dinner with our traveling companions in this wonderful town..Tommorow we leave for Siena and Rome!





Day 10

Montecatini in Tuscany - Siena - Rome

Siena - famous for its Palio horse race..We will view the city and have lunch from an open air cafe in the Piazza del Campo,.This shell-shaped Piazza has its floor divided in nine separate parts, symbolizing the Committee of Nine governing the town of Siena in the Middle Ages. The square adjoins the surrounding alleys via a system of vaulted arches linking the palazzos facing the square. ..

The famous horse-race Palio di Siena is held here in the piazza. Piazza del Campo is the most famous piazza in Italy and one of the largest medieval squares in the world. We stay the afternoon viewing exqusite pottery and local architecture.....

Early in the evening we head back to Rome for two days....

The Eternal City of Rome is beautiful at night and our tour guide and Martin will offer ideas on how to spend your evening...nightclubs...restaurants, bars or just an incredible walk through the city.....


Tommorow we venture into the heart of Rome to visit The Vatican and Sistine Chapel!
